The X-Men films oscillated between the cool blues and greys of Xavier's school and the warmer, more operatic palette of Magneto's world. The black leather aesthetic of the first films gave way to the period colors of First Class and Days of Future Past's contrast between 1970s warmth and a dystopian grey future. Logan's sun-scorched near-monochrome was the franchise's most radical color statement, stripping the superhero film down to its Western roots.
