Nightmare on Elm Street
6 prints
The Nightmare on Elm Street series lives in the space between dream and waking, and its color reflects this instability. The real world is rendered in familiar suburban tones. Dreams bleed into reds, greens, and the boiler-room amber of Freddy's domain. The series grew more surreal and garish as it progressed. Wes Craven's New Nightmare returned to restraint, using ordinary color to make the horror feel closer to home.
