The Harry Potter series underwent a deliberate visual darkening across its eight films, mirroring the shift from childhood wonder to wartime grief. Chris Columbus's first two films were warm, golden, and reassuringly magical. Alfonso Cuarón's Prisoner of Azkaban introduced desaturation and shadow. By the final films, the palette had narrowed to greys, blacks, and the specific cold light of a world at war.
