Lanthimos' visual world is formally symmetrical and color-restricted. Institutional blues and greens in The Lobster, the muted browns of The Favourite's Baroque interiors, the clinical whites of his short films. His cinematographers give his work a controlled, almost scientific visual quality that makes the absurdism hit harder.
