Lee's visual style is often bold to the point of confrontation. The bright reds of Do the Right Thing's Bedford-Stuyvesant, the saturated blues of Mo' Better Blues, the intense color of She's Gotta Have It. His DPs, especially Ernest Dickerson, gave his early work a look that felt more like a graphic novel than conventional cinema. Color as an expression of community and rage.
