Bay's films are perpetually shot in the last ninety minutes of sunlight, everything gold and orange and long-shadowed. The Transformers series pushed this into abstraction: explosions rendered in orange fireballs against blue sky, chrome and steel catching sunset. His color is aspirational and muscular, designed to make everything look as consequential as possible.
