Fellini's color world is theatrical, unashamedly artificial, bursting with the warmth of carnival and memory. 8½'s dreamlike blacks give way to the vivid, oversaturated hues of Juliet of the Spirits and Satyricon, worlds where color is permission to abandon realism entirely. His later films practically vibrate with pinks, golds, and reds that feel closer to circus poster than cinema.
