Cronenberg's body horror aesthetic is expressed through color as organic discomfort. The flesh tones of his practical effects, the institutional greens and whites of medical facilities, the bruise-purple of Videodrome's distorted reality. A History of Violence and Eastern Promises brought a more naturalistic palette, but even then, his reds feel biological and wrong.
